Xiaomi is set to launch its latest flagship smartphone, dubbed the Xiaomi Mi 5, in India this month. The company has sent out media invites for a launch event scheduled on March 31, 2016, in New Delhi, where it will launch the Mi 5 phone in India.
As for pricing, it has already been hinted by Xiaomi’s President Bin Lin, that the Mi 5 will be priced between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 27,000 in India. There is no word on whether the company will launch all the three variants-32GB, 64GB and 128GB, of the smartphone in India or not. To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 5 was unveiled at MWC 2016 in Barcelona. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with Adreno 530 GPU. It comes in three variants:
- Snapdragon 820 2.15 GHz + 4GB RAM + 128GB storage + 3D ceramic body
- Snapdragon 820 2.15 GHz + 3GB RAM + 64GB storage + 3D curved glass body
- Snapdragon 820 1.8GHz + 3GB RAM + 32GB storage + 3D curved glass body
It features USB Type-C port and is fueled by a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 which the company claims to deliver up to 2.5 hours of talk time with just 5 minutes of charge. On software front, the Mi 5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, wrapped under MIUI 7. It measures 144.5×69.2×7.25 mm, weighs just 129 grams and comes with a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button.
